Alibaba Launches A Brand New Mobile OS
Chinese trade giant Alibaba has unveiled the Aliyun OS for mobile phones. The new entrant is expected to take the already heated mobile OS battle to the next level. Aliyun’s interface will be cloud centric. It will enable developers to useHTML5 and JavaScript for easier app development as well.
The mobile OS will feature cloud services including email, weather updates, and GPS navigation tools. Moreover, users can seamlessly synchronise, store, and backup data such as contact information, call logs, text messages, notes, and photos to AliCloud‘s remote data center. The stored data can then be accessed across all supported PC and mobile devices. Interestingly, online storage service promises to provide 100 GB of data storage absolutely free! What’s more, the OS is reported to run Android apps through an application layer.
The company has also launched the K-Touch W700, which is the first phone to run on the new OS. The device costs 2,680 yuan (approx Rs 18,700), and is expected to hit the Chinese market within a week.
