Apple to Kill the iPod Classic and iPod Shuffle?
Apple may announce the end of the life for the iPod Classic and iPod Shuffle at next month’s press event, reports CNET and TUAW.
CNET quoted that October 24th marks the 10-year anniversary of the iPod. That’s quite an achievement, but it’s also a nice place to start concentrating on new things. I can imagine Apple saying, “It had a great run, now go buy an iPhone.” Also, the iPod just isn’t the moneymaker it once was for Apple. In the fourth quarter of 2010, iPod sales made up just 8 percent of Apple’s total revenue, and they have been in a steady decline ever since the iPhone’s introduction.

Apple Thinking of Only Launching the ‘iPhone 4S’ This Year.
Apple will reportedly unveil several new devices at next month’s event but only one of those will be an iPhone.
BGR relays an investor note from Wedge Partners analyst Brian Blair who predicts Apple will only launch an incremental update to the iPhone this year.
“We expect the focus of the new iPhone will be iOS 5, a speedier A5 processor and a higher resolution 8 MP camera with a small possibility of a larger 4 inch screen,” Blair wrote. “We believe the casing will be largely similar to the iPhone with some particular modifications to the antennae [sic]. Apple’s Next Event to Be Held on October 4, Starring Its New CEO
Finally the wait is over,according to AllthingsD Apple is reportedly planning to hold its iPhone 5 media event on October 4th.
While Apple could certainly change its plans anytime, sources said that the Oct. 4 date has been selected by the company to showcase the iPhone 5. Sources added that the plan is now to make the new device available for purchase within a few weeks after the announcement.
