Torrent Site BTJunkie Shut Downs Voluntarily

After Megaupload shutdown next in line is BTJunkie. BitTorrent indexing site BTJunkie has decided to wrap up their website.

Visiting btjunkie.org currently displays a blank page with nothing more than “btjunkie 2005-2012″ and a brief note from the founders.

“This is the end of the line my friends. The decision does not come easy, but we’ve decided to voluntarily shut down,” they wrote. “We’ve been fighting for years for your right to communicate, but it’s time to move on. It’s been an experience of a lifetime, we wish you all the best!”

The company did not mention any specific reason behind this move. But depending on the recent crackdown against file sharing website megaupload by Justice Department which was taken offline on Jan 19th can be considered as prime reason for shutting down the website.
BTjunkie was one of the search terms censored by Google because it was related to piracy.
Reactions are coming up on these move. Many users are not happy with this move by btjunkie.”Damn,” said a reader on the TechCrunch site. “Guess we’re just going to have to start paying for shit now.”
